Five Questions to help your walk in the Spirit
Life with Jesus is a great adventure. It is not like the walk of the flesh. From the moment you get saved, supernatural interaction begins with God. You are no longer a child of the parents who bore you. Now you are a child of God. Learn what that means. Favor with God is favor with the Creator of the Universe. Ask what you will and my Father will give it you. Jesus is not talking about big cars and houses. He is talking about His Kingdom. What really matters to God is people. God is talking about His kingdom and a walk with power from God in miracles, signs and wonders. God wants his children to be saved, believe in Him and grow in righteousness. (Gal 5:16, Rom. 8:9-10, Rom. 8:13)
- Is there reward for those who follow Christ?
There is a place in your maturity. Your walk in Christ where you begin to bear fruit for the Kingdom and there is a reward. Find out what God’s reward system is and why we should be interested in obtaining a reward from God. There is no reward for carnal works. That which one receives in this life stays in this life. We can nothing with us from earth to heaven. Only those works which God has predestinated in his plan for our life will endure forever. (Mt.5:12, 46, Mt. 6:1, 6, Eph. 2:10)
- Why should I choose a walk in the spirit?
Jesus’ disciples also asked this question. In other words, what’s in it for me? We have given up everything to follow you Jesus, now what’s in it for me? Jesus answered this question. Do you remember what He said to Peter? Jesus promised great things in the regeneration and also that He would return all that the enemy has robbed from us. (Mt. 19:27-30)
- Life or Religion?
God gave us the freedom of choice. He never forces us to love Him. He wants us to choose the right thing. We can choose the familiar or take the risk to do what is right. What resides inside our heart in fullness is what we usually choose to act on. Or speak out. How we make choices depends on what fills our heart. “I set before you life and death. Choose life.” (Deut. 30:19) The word of God in the Bible defines sin as any disobedience to God. Religion and traditions of men have an appearance of good but the end thereof is death. When we learn to walk in our new nature, we begin to discern the deception of sin that has been working in us. The truth will always set us free. Truth is not a part of our old nature but it is a part of our new nature from Christ. God gave us the means but we must walk it out in this life. God is waiting for us to choose truth and righteousness, not just selfish gain. (Jn.3:21, 8:32, Mt.6:5, 23:13, 15, 25, Lk. 11:44) Unless your righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees, You shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven. Mt. 5:20
- God’s spoken word.
Prophecy is a gift of the spirit. It comes from the mind of Christ. It is given to a believer that is experienced in the development of this gift. All the gifts come to us through the same channel that the gift of tongues comes from when we receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. There is a path of development of this gift: First the message is received in tongues, and then the interpretation is given resulting in a word of prophecy which is given by God to edify the church. These messages always agree with the written word of God. They are given to build up the body of Christ in faith. (1 Cor. 14:1, 24 Rom. 12:6).
